Autopromote allows you to promote to the next ladder instantly after reaching the point promotion requirement.
Autopromote (auto) can be acquired in the following ways:
Grapes can be spent to gain the autopromote effect, using the 'Buy Autopromote' button.
The cost for buying autopromote varies depending on your current position on the ladder - the higher you are, the more expensive it gets.
The cost is being calculated with the following formula:
round_down(base_auto_cost / max(ladder_position - max(base_ah_ladder_number, ladder_number) + 1, 1)), where:
base_auto_cost is the maximum cost of autopromote (currently 2000 grapes);ladder_position is your current rank on the ladder;base_ah_ladder_number is the number of base asshole ladder (currently 10)ladder_number is the number of the current ladder.Let's break down the following example from a [DEF] round:

If the current ladder for the ranker is L2, the formula would calculate as follows:
2000 / max(19 - max(10, 2) + 1, 1) =>
2000 / max(19 - 10 + 1, 1) =>
2000 / max(10, 1) =>
2000 / 10 =>
round_down(200) =>
200 grapes to buy auto on L2 at 19th position.
If the current ladder for the ranker would be 15, the formula would calculate as follows:
2000 / max(19 - max(10, 15) + 1, 1) =>
2000 / max(19 - 15 + 1, 1) =>
2000 / max(5, 1) =>
2000 / 5 =>
round_down(400) =>
400 grapes to buy auto on L15 at 19th position.
Being the first ranker to promote into a ladder grants you enough grapes for a full-priced autopromote (2000), free autopromote for that ladder, and a 20% bonus to your current vinegar pool. Info about other rewards can be found on the grapes page. Notably, this is the only way to get autpromote on a ladder with the [NAUTO] modifier. Winning on the last ladder before the AH ladder is a huge advantage!
There is a mechanic that applies the [FAUTO] modifier to existing ladders as the round progresses. When this occurs, all rankers on the ladder have autopromote applied automatically. For more information, see the page on catch-up mechanics.
